It's Official! Welcome to Alternative Source
Well, it has been a lot of planning and developing and tweaking, and despite a few bugs and missing cans of paint here and there, Alternative Source has marched into full swing along with the 2006 Green Blogathon.
I have to admit that we feel pretty lucky here at Alternative Source, to have had the chance to participate in the 2006 Green Blogathon, meet some great people and launch the site on the same weekend.
So, just what is Alternative Source?
Alternative Source is intended to be an information source for alternative energy (AE). We collect data from all over the web and publish it in a series of weblogs: News, Resources, the Directory and the Weblog.
The directory and resources are pretty straightforward: we collect and categorize websites and resources related to alternative energy and publish them in their respective locations.
The news is intended to be a way for people to get a quick snapshot of what AE topics are making headlines on the current day. We don't post long excerpts; generally we write a two to three sentence synopsis to give people a slice of what is happening. We find it a great way to keep tabs on the sector and to notice trends start to appear.
Stay up to date!
At the moment we stuff all of our energetic content into one complete RSS feed. If you are unsure of what that is, try reading this. If you find that doesn't interest you, don't worry because we will have a newsletter up and running within a couple of weeks - send us an e-mail if you would like us to put you on the list right now.
So, just who are we?
Well, Alternative Source is, at the moment, comprised of one author and a couple of other folks who helped him get the site off the ground. That is where the "we" comes from. (We stuck with we because there are a couple of other authors ready to stand up with some additional content.)
From the author: My name is Mike Papageorge, I am the principle information gatherer here at the moment. This website is a bit of a passion/hobby of mine. My real job is that of web development, but happily I find time in the day for things like this project.
And so it begins!
So, off we go. Time to get busy, finish our about pages, clean up our tags page, and start writing more content.
Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again!
Congratulations on the official kickoff to the site. Best of luck with the content and definitely drop me a line sometime soon and maybe we can hookup a joint project of some kind.
Right on Ryan, thanks! You've got a good thing going over there (and a great voice for podcasts!). All of that on top of a brilliant domain name...
Excellent! Let's get this grand addition to the green scene off and running. So great to have you on board, Mike. Look forward to many promising partnerships down the road. Good luck!
Hey thanks a lot Michael! Looking forward to this too, the blogathon's been a blast!
