Carlyle eyes renewable energy, predicts IPOs

The Carlyle Group, one of the world's largest private equity firms, is looking to make advances in the renewable energy sector - possibly by raising a fund that will invest in renewable energy infrastructure. The article quotes Carlyle's David Rubenstein as saying, We intend to be much more active in the wind, power, solar energy, biomass and geothermal area.

USDA Announces Loan Guarantees/Grants for Renewables

USDA Secretary Mike Johanns announced today the availability of $176.5 million in loan guarantees and almost $11.4 million in grants to support investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements by agricultural producers and small businesses.

Calgary-based Enbridge and Winnipeg-based Sequoia Energy Inc. will be submitting a proposal to build a wind farm in Manitoba, Canada. Details aren't known publically yet, however the article writes that one of the principals said the project could generate 1,000 megawatts of power and up to $2 billion in export energy sales.
