Czech Environment Minister says biofuels could provide 42% of alternative energy by 2010

Czech Environment Minister Libor Ambrozek has stated that biomass fuels could provide up to 42% of the Czech Republic's alternative energy by 2010, and that renewable energy resources which today account for 3.9% of total electricity production could provide up to 8% by that same year.

Willie Nelson Introduces Alternative Fuel

Country singer Willie Nelson is selling "BioWillie," his brand of biodiesel, which constsits of a blend of 80 percent petroleum diesel and 20 percent biodiesel made from soybean oil.

Biodiesel is America's fastest growing alternative fuel, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. U.S. sales of biodiesel tripled last year to 75 million gallons, but account for less than 1 percent of the diesel fuel sold nationwide, said Jenna Higgins, a spokeswoman for the National Biodiesel Board.

Kulim, CremerOleo To Build Biodiesel Plants

Malaysia's Diversified palm oil group and Germany's CremerOleo GmbH & Co. will be teaming up to build two new biodiesel plants in Singapore:

The plants will have total capacity of 200,000 tonnes per annum - 100,000 tonnes in Tanjung Langsat and 100,000 tonnes in Jurong - producing methyl esters for biodiesel and glycerin as byproduct bound for the export markets mainly the European Union countries.
