Suzlon Signs Framework Agreement to Supply 157 Megawatts of Wind Turbine Capacity to Edison

Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation has signed a framework agreement to supply 157 megawatts of wind turbine capacity for projects being developed by Edison Mission Group of Irvine, California. The agreement outlines delivery of 75 units of the S88 - 2.1MW in 2006 and early 2007.

Wind energy gathering speed in Hungary

Hungary, with a current total of ten wind turbines, is looking to increase that number significantly. 600 wind turbines had already received their environmental licences by the end of 2004, and Hungary is looking to get 4.5% of it's energy from renewable sources by 2010 (it was 3.5% in 2003).

Like other countries, getting the power onto the grid may be an issue, in this case the capacity of the network to absorb more energy from renewable sources, which do not produce on a continuous basis.

United States Department of Energy budget focused on new energy ★★

Interesting news from The United States Department of Energy's fiscal year 2007 budget, where evidence of a shift of priorities to alternative energy can be seen in the termination of $61 million worth of funding for energy companies to explore for oil and gas and a request for an extra half a billion US dollars ($4.1 billion in total) to go towards scientific research.

He states what we are hearing more and more of lately: in order to reduce oil dependence it needs to be dealt with on the short term thru reduction of usage and over the long term by alternative energy sources. He goes on to recommend a few alternative energy companies that he likes.
