GE Wind Power Grows to 166 MW in Germany

GE Energy added to it's wind portfolio in Germany - now standing at 166 MW - when it acquired a 12 MW, 8 turbine (GE 1.5 MW turbines) wind farm in Germany from Germania Windpark GmbH & Co KG.

Wind farm is coming to Michigan's Thumb

Noble Environmental Power, a project of J.P. Morgan partners, has broken ground on a wind project in the Thumb area of Michigan to be completed in June, with a prospective total of 180 by 2008. The turbines will produce 48 megawatts of electricity annually (roughly 16,000 homes), and are to be built on farmland, with the farmers receiving $2,000 now and 4% of gross profits from the turbines. In the future some turbines may be places in the shallower waters of the Great Lakes.

From the article: Michigan ranks 14th among the 50 states in potential for development of wind power, according to an industry group called the American Wind Energy Association.
