Wind plan breezing along ★
Glens Falls Post-Star, appx. 1110 wordsThe story of a new wind park being proposed near Johnsburg, New York, is a lot like many other small news stories being printed these days: investor has an opportunity, an area, is testing and there are concerns about birds and the effect of the operation on local ecology.
Perhaps the difference here is that it would appear that the Adirondack Wind Energy Park has the backing of most locals, and it even has backing from Greenpeace.
Ubly area gets a charge out of wind power ★
Port Huron Times Herald, appx. 460 wordsA $75 million project to build Michigan's first large-scale commercial wind park near Ubly in Huron County began in December of 2005, and by mid-2006 should have 32 1.5-mega-watt General Electric wind turbines in place to help the area reduce it's reliance on fossil fuels.
The article also stated that Coal now is 1 or 2 cents cheaper per kilowatt-hour than wind, according to the American Wind Energy Association
